The Gyrojet is an unusual family of firearms, as the ammo uses rocket propulsion instead of conventional gunpowder. This eliminated recoil from the gun and made it lightweight.
It was only made in the 1960s, and only saw limited service in the Vietnam War. It was discontinued because it was too expensive to produce.
