The Gewehr 88 was a late 19th-century German bolt actionrifle, adopted in 1888. Chambered in propietary M/88 or 7.92×57mm Mauser round, the gun features a straight bolt handle, ladder-type flip-up rear sight, 5-round fixed magazine with trigger guard integrated onto it. This also applies to the Hanyang Type 88, an unlicensed Chinese copy with lack of barrel shroud and Mauser-style tangent rear sight.
