A type of long, slender thrusting sword with a cruciform hilt and a grip for two-handed use, used in the late Medieval and Renaissance period. Essentially a type of highly specialized long sword, the blade of an estoc is very stiff and usually has a diamond-shaped cross section. Because any edge on an estoc's blade is usually vestigial, it is unsuited to cutting but excels at thrusting and as an anti-armor weapon.
