A kettle with an integrated heating element. Generally distinguishable from stovetop kettles by featuring a window to view the water level, having control buttons on it, having a port to connect to its electric base, or simply having an electric cord coming out of it. Many such electric kettles feature a metal and plastic exterior. Some feature all glass sides, but not a glass bottom given the presence of the heating element in the base.
