The Aichi D3A Type 99 Carrier Bomber, also known by it's Allied reporting name "Val", was the main dive bomber for the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II.
It saw action from Pearl Harbor to the Phillipines, from Midway to the Eastern Solomons and until the Kamikaze attacks. The Val has been credited with sinking more Allied warships than any other Axis aircraft with a total of 14 (5 British, 1 Australian and 8 American ships; with 2 of them being on Kamikaze missions).
