Edit
A professional wrestling maneuver in which a wrestler puts the opponent in a front facelock, hooks their pants or thigh, and lifts them up as if they were executing a vertical suplex. The wrestler then falls onto their back so that the opponent lands on their head while remaining vertical.
This move is a version of the DDT and innovated by Killer Karl Kox, an American wrestler.
In Japanese puroresu, the term "brainbuster" refers to a regular vertical suplex, while the move elsewhere known as a brainbuster is referred to as a "vertical drop brainbuster".
Popular brainbuster users:
- Adam Cole (Uses a variant where he drops his opponent's head onto his knee instead of onto the ground)
- Austin Aries
- Eddie Guerrero
- Finn Balor (Uses a single underhook variant which he calls the Bloody Sunday/1916)
- Ishii Tomohiro
- Jushin Thunder Liger
- Sami Zayn (Used both the standard and the Brainbustaaaaahhhhh!!!!!, an elevated variant onto the top turnbuckle, in his old El Generico persona)
- Seth Rollins (Used a small package driver variant in Ring of Honor which he called the God's Last Gift)
