Band of Brothers is a book later adapted into a miniseries about E (Easy) Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the American 101st Airborne Division during World War II in the European theater.
Stephen E. Ambrose wrote the book in 1992, with the miniseries adaptation airing on HBO in 2001 with producers including Ambrose, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. The cast included Damian Lewis as lead character Major Richard Winters and David Schwimmer as Easy Company's antagonistic initial commander Captain Herbert Sobel.
