Personality-wise, she comes off as being cool, laid back, and even somewhat aloof and/or easily irritated, a great contrast to many of the American shipgirls who came before her. She has a particular aversion to night battles and Japanese destroyers, Akatsuki (see below) and Yuudachi in particular, in reference to her historical fate. She is often compared to Ryuujou, who also has brown hair and a similar haircut but a flat chest.
History
She was commissioned 24 December 1941 and was awarded 5 battle stars and a Presidential Unit Citation during World War II. After sinking Japanese destroyer Akatsuki, Atlanta was heavily damaged by Japanese and friendly gunfire in a night surface action on 13 November 1942 during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. The cruiser was sunk on her captain's orders in the afternoon of the same day.
