An armet is a type of helmet that appeared in the 15th Century and was used extensively in Italy, France, England, Spain, and the Low Countries (consisting of Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands). Completely enclosing the head, an armet consists of the skull, a double-pivoted visor and two hinged cheek pieces which lock at the front over the chin. Considered an evolution of the earlier bascinet.
