Aquarius (the Water Bearer) is a zodiac constellation located in the Southern celestial hemisphere, between Capricornus to the west and Pisces to the east. Aquarius is the second largest zodiac constellation after Virgo. Its brightest star is Sadalsuud.
Aquarius is sometimes depicted as being directly connected to Piscis Austrinus (the Southern Fish) by Fomalhaut, although this star belongs exclusively to Piscis Austrinus. The connection symbolizes the pouring of water from Aquarius into the mouth of the Southern Fish. The Y-shaped star pattern at the top of the constellation forms an asterism called the "Water Jar".
