The AN-94 is a Russian 5.45×39mm assault rifle. It was designed by Gennadiy Nikonov in 1994 as a potential replacement to the AK-74 series. Its features were its black furniture, a unique receiver and muzzle device. The AN-94 offers a unique two-shot burst function at a stated 1800 RPM. Due to its complex design in comparison to the AK, the gun was not fully adopted in military service.
