She wears a (slightly see-through) brown and white version of Yukikaze'sshortsailor dress with a beige scarf decorated with a tiny lifebuoy. She also wears maroon thighhighs with white stripes near the brim. Below her dress is a strap contraption which holds her thighhighs and her tiny hat in place. Said hat is a tiny smokestack which is placed on top of her head, off-center to the right. On her back is an oversized quadruple torpedo launcher and hanging as a purse is Rensouhou-kun, a sentient turret whom is encased in a ship-like hull with her name written right-to-left in katakana.
As the testbed for Shimakaze's turbines, she is, in a way, Shimakaze's elder sister. This is indeed reflected in-game with both incarnations coming with enhanced boilers as stock equipment.
Implied to be a tsundere, she likes breezes. She is often drawn as a group with Shimakaze, Yukikaze and Tokitsukaze (Test bed for the former and her immediate elder and younger sisters respectively for the latter two), whom are seen (in various combinations) in fanart hanging out together or more often competing for Amatsukaze's attention. Her personality and gradual easing up to the admiral actually reflect how she was historically presumed sunk after a submarine attack in January 1944 only to be found six days later and towed to safety.
