日向 (Sunny Place) Named after the ancient Hyuuga Province (today Miyazaki Prefecture).
The personification of the Japanese battleship Hyuuga in Kantai Collection.
Character design by shibafu (glock23), voiced by Ootsubo Yuka.
See post #2910452 for base form and post #2765229 for kai form (Zuiun festival ver.).
Hyuuga has short brown hair and brown eyes. Like many battleships, she wears a nontraditional miko outfit, with a brown hakama skirt. Somewhat like Akagi, (who had the same artist,) the art style and mostly-brown clothing makes her notably plainer-looking than most battleships. She is also drawn as rather broad-shouldered, so some artists make her a muscular female or a busty one. When in a state of partial undress, she often is portrayed wearing a skin tight black undershirt, although others up the "Japaneseness" and go for a fundoshi and sarashi. She often carries a sheathed katana at her side.
With her combat gear on, she is surrounded with turrets and cannons. In her "Aviation Battleship" Kai, her top left turret is replaced with a small, triangular flight deck.
For her kai ni, see Hyuuga Kai Ni. The Ise-class are the poster girls of KanColle Arcade, SEGA's card-based arcade adaptation of the browser game.
Hyuuga has a forthright, diligent personality. Like truly disciplined military personnel, she speaks with a level-headed matter-of-factness and little emotion, even while attacking or injured. She is also known for occasionally getting awfully deep and cryptic, especially regarding her JMSDF namesake.
She is often portrayed as being obsessed about her Zuiun seaplanes, sometimes to the point of worshipping them. The Zuiun Festivals in Summer 2017 and Spring 2018 along with the in-game portraits provided fans a massive amount of fodder to present Zuiun worship as a weird cult with Hyuuga as the guru and anyone wearing a green "Zuiun Spirit" happi being cultists.
