Base and kai
Kantai Collection's personification of the Japanese light cruiser Yuubari. Character design by Konishi, voiced by Bridcutt Sarah Emi.
She is portrayed with medium-length dull green hair in a ponytail secured with a teal hair bow, and brown eyes. She wears a dark blue sailor shirt with a light green sailor collar, orange neckerchief, green pleated skirt, black pantyhose, and grey rudder footwear. In the anime she also serves as the fleet's mechanic (due to the absence of Akashi) and wears an alternate outfit consisting of orange coveralls over a tank top.
Her rigging at base form consists of two hull pieces held by the funnel-and-bridge to her back, with all four of her 14 cm twin/single mounts controlled by joysticks, and two 61 cm twin torpedo tubes on her ankles.
As her real life counterpart was small in size and displacement (being slightly larger than the Akizuki-class destroyer), she is depicted with a petite body and costume akin to that of the other destroyer in-game. She is heavily associated with melons (more specifically, cantaloupes), due to her namesake city in Hokkaido being famous for cantaloupes.
Because she was built as an experimental ship to test new designs and configuration, Yuubari is very often portrayed tinkering with or designing new equipment, frequently together with Akashi. Historically, Yuubari's survivors were rescued by Samidare, so the two are commonly depicted together, often in a big sister/little sister or romantic relationship.
