ヒガンバナ 彼岸花 曼珠沙华 曼珠沙華 Lycoris_radiata
A poisonous flower (species Lycoris radiata) commonly associated with death.
A spider lily has 4-6 flowers growing from a central leafless stem, forming a sort of dome. Natural colors include red (most common), pink, white and yellow, sometimes depicted in non-existent black and blue. The most noticeable features are the long stamens, which give it a distinct entangled/spidery look, earning its common English name 'Spider Lily'.
Its Japanese name is "Higan-bana" (Higan flower) or "Manjushage". It blooms without leaves and bears leaves without flowers, which is why it is also known in Japan as 葉見ず花見ず (ha-mizu, hana-mizu), roughly translated as "without seeing leaves, without seeing flowers".
Not to be confused with chrysanthemum, some species of which have long and thin outer petals that can resemble spider lily stamens.
