- Agent 2 (Marie)
- Agent 3, player character for Splatoon 1's hero mode.

- New Agent 3, player character for Splatoon 3's hero mode. Can also be an Octoling.

Identifying Inklings (as opposed to Octolings)
Inklings have a few key traits that Octolings don't:
- pointy ears
- a black line that connects their eyes. these were designed to give Inklings a mask-like appearance, similar to that of a domino mask.
- their suction cups appear within the inside of their tentacle hair (e.g. post #6122993)
- sometimes depicted with star-shaped pupils (e.g. post #7316406)
- (the named Inklings, particularly the Idols, are nearly always depicted with them)
- unique hairstyles, see this list of them (Splatoon wiki).
- Inkling girls have some longer hairstyle options than Octoling girls
post #7190600 is a good comparison of these traits, with an Inkling on the left and an Octoling on the right
Typical tags common to both Inklings and Octolings include tentacle hair and thick eyebrows.
Note: Inklings do not usually have cephalopod eyes despite being based off Squid. Splatoon reserves those for Octolings, particularly the named Idol Octolings. post #4589127 is a very rare example of an Inkling drawn with cephalopod eyes
