高波 "Tall Waves"
The Kantai Collection version of the 6th of the Imperial Japanese Navy Yuugumo-class destroyers, Takanami. She was introduced during the Spring 2015 Event.
Character design by Fujikawa, voiced by Kuno Misaki.
Personality and appearance
Takanami has a personality that is lacking in confidence. Her verbal tic is "かも" or "kamo", which usually means "maybe". The homophone "kamo" (written "鴨") can also mean duck, if an artist is up for some puns. She is often shown with ducks or duck-themed alternate clothing for this reason. This verbal tic is shared with Akitsushima, who was introduced at the same time.
Takanami has short green hair in a bob cut with notable long sidelocks, and the sides of her hair are braided. She has brown eyes. Like her sisters, she wears a long-sleeved white shirt under a maroon sleeveless dress and a blue bowtie. When moderately or heavily damaged, it is revealed she wears a yellow sports bra with red stripes. She also wears grey pantyhose with white-and-brown cross laced boots.
Her combat gear includes twin torpedo-launcher turrets strapped to each thigh, and a hand-held turret with twin cannons. Carried on her back like a backpack is her mast and smokestack, with a platform on a swing-arm carrying a pair of smaller secondary turrets.
She has an alternate remodeled art, with a more self-assured expression on her face.

Takanami was given her second remodel on June 2, 2021. See the page for more details.
History
In real life, Takanami was a very short-lived ship. (In fact, she one of the shortest-lived in the game alongside her sister Suzunami) Completed on August 31st of 1942, she was sunk just three months later, on November 30th, during action off Guadalcanal by the American heavy cruiser USS Minneapolis while trying to torpedo her.
