An amphibious four-legged animal.
Not to be confused with frog. Unlike frogs, the physical differences of toads are rough, dry skin, warts on body, stockier body, crests under eyes and mostly come in dull colouring. Toads prefer to crawl and jump on shorter distance compared to frogs.
Toads are found on every continent, excluding Antarctica. They prefer to inhabit humid, moist areas like wetlands, ponds, or lakes. Both frogs and toads do croaking vocalization, lay eggs, grow up from tadpoles, and feed on small animals which are mainly bugs. Toad tadpoles look chunkier than frog ones.
For the character in the Mario series, see Toad (Mario).
