A person who supervises the safety of people at beaches, pools, waterparks, and the like, rescue those who are drowning, and tend to those with other emergencies. They are trained in swimming and first aid and have aids that help them do their various functions.
Typically distinguished from other beachgoers by their redswimwear and/or the whistles around their necks.
