"Down India" is actually a double wordplay. The intended Thai phrase is "ลงแขก" ("ลง" = "Down", "แขก" = "Indian"), which means a gathering of people with a purpose of achieving some communal task. Originally this was applied to rice harvesting events, but has since turned into a common Thai slang.
