A cake made with an abundance of large black cherries and plenty of chocolate cream and icing. Fluffier and lighter than it looks, its sweetness harmonizes with the tang of the cherries. Apparently, ones very much like this are made even today in a place called Germany. Its name seems to derive from the fact that it was made with cherries for which the Schwarzwälder ("Black Forest") area is famous.
The forest is actually called “Schwarzwald”. The artist probably got confused with the name of the cake, but “Schwarzwälder” means “of the Schwarzwald”.Black Forest Cherry Cake
