This is the second doujinshi compilation book I've released. The first came out in November 2015, so it's already been seven and a half years since then, huh? I've kept on releasing several doujinshi a year, but as a result of just drawing whatever I feel like at the time, it's been difficult to put together any compilations with a clear theme... Unconnected Marketeers really got my creative juices flowing, so I ended up drawing a whole bunch of stories with the same themes and characters, digging deeper and deeper into their backstory, finally giving me a good chance to combine them here. That said, there's two 100-page manga included, so it might not feel as jam-packed with stories as one might expect. Sorry about that.
It's also my first time putting out a book with a single-character title. I considered a lot of options, but I decided this single kanji represented the book pretty well. It's interesting that there are actually about seven different kanji for the word "rainbow". That said, cool four-kanji idioms seem to fit Iizunamaru Megumu a little too well, and I've gotten incredible mileage out of my kanji dictionary as a result. I wouldn't be here without it.I already adore anything to do with non-humans or supernatural whatevers having friendships that seem to run excessively deep, but monster stories from the Heian-Muromachi age are another of my favorite subjects, so I'm really in my element. There's a lot of sources, so the more you research, the more you find. It's amazing. I've also included my list of references as a starting point, so please, do look for yourself. My deepest thanks to the people of the past.
I've written a lot about their backstories here, but the future is bright... or is it? Is it going to be alright...? They've seen their share of misfortune in my manga, but what I really want is for them to live happy lives. I'll be cheering them on from the sidelines.
