One Piece 919: The Ruins of Oden Castle
Remember those sketch covers I used to make for One Piece chapters way back when?
MordecaiplzsaysplzDude, I'm bringing it back!
My main reason for doing so is that I've had a bit of difficulty keeping up with the myriad plot threads as my attention has been monopolized by my manga projects and a certain... captain.
What really gets me about this chapter is the angry comments I've read about it's climax. Some B.S. about how "oh, Oda is slipping" or "oh, One Piece has jumped the shark." And I'm sitting there, reading these comments, like "Seriously? You're going to bitch about time travel being introduced in One Piece?"
I mean, it just seems kind of absurd to me that in a manga about a crew of pirates that has featured magic fruit, dragons, zombies, giants, dinosaurs, humans with elongated limbs, anthropomorphic animals, cyborgs, transforming robots, secret labs, clouds you can build cities on top of, a cola-feulled ship, snails you can use as phones and a populace with an abnormally high pain threshold, one would draw the line at time travel.
Anyway, my theory on how Kinemon and co. were transported into the future is the most simple one: Devil fruit powers. Personally, I think this Orochi, who is the one with a stranglehold on Wano, is also the one who possesses this "Jikan Jikan no Mi" ability, since he appears to be fearful of the so-called "Seven Ghosts of Wano." My guess is he knows they're coming as he's the one who somehow tore open a portal in time, and flung them into the future, where his evil is law. Now the fools seek to return to the past, and undo the future that is Orochi!
Gotta get back
