Some fell to heresy and became grand youkai themselves.Some were recognized by the great deities and joined the ranks of the myriad gods.Some became celestial hermits and are still up there training themselves.It's hard to say where legend ends and fiction begins.But... speaking also from experience...
It's not that unusual for people here in this land to stray from their humanity.That said... there's a good reason the records are so vague.This land is fully reborn every 60 years, give or take.So... it could well be...that Titania's emergence is something similar...Not a lot is recorded about them either...
But of course, many of the arbiters of Gensokyo have been special individuals to be able to handle such a role...
