Hello. This is the one known as Hirasaka Makoto.
Here was a story about maple syrup.
Personally, up until very recently I kind of assumed maple syrup was something similar to honey, with no idea it was actually boiled from maple water harvested out of trees. That was really fascinating to find out.
So, in this story I ended up giving the exposition role to those "great fairy" characters from the Okina arc in the Three Fairies manga. I just felt like they fit the "guardian of the trees" role. That said, I should specify that they have no such role in the official works, so please feel free to come up with your own interpretations.
It's been a while, but I'm planning to make another Three Witches story next. Something of a sequel to the previous "Witches' Tea Party" book. Hopefully you'll pick it up as well.
