The VF-X3 Star Crusader (aka Medusa) first appeared in the NEC PC-98 computer game Macross: Remember Me in 1993. It then made an appearance in the subsequent Macross: Skull Leader and Macross: Love Stories in 1994 and, finally, in the compendium Macross: Skull Leader Complete Pack in 1995 which combined all three games.
