Skin Pack #3 (Doom / Subnautica)
This artwork was commissioned by me and drawn by my good friend Nate Welch: Reddit, Instagram
I have permission to distribute this work.
Just a little something to celebrate the release of Subnautica: Below Zero.
And in a lot of ways, Doom is very similar to Subnautica. They're both enjoyable, relaxing games with beautiful visuals, amazing artistic design, and stellar soundtrack. You collect and manage resources, find and read data logs, explore the ruins of advanced civilizations across multiple distinct biomes, unravel a surprisingly deep narrative that tries way harder than it has any obligation to, build your arsenal of advanced tools, check your (multiple) health bars several times a second, quicksave like a twitchy nuthead, kill countless alien creatures, face colossal abominations from your deepest darkest nightmares, and try to survive a hostile alien world that would like nothing more than to see you slain by the infinite monstrosities that lurk the abyss...only to arise as the apex predator and become the dominant life-form of that strange new world.
...Did I write "relaxing?"
Anyways, the left skin is the Reinforced Dive Armor, named and designed after the Reinforced Dive Suit and Rebreather headpiece, with a thermoblade for the Doom Blade and a grenade launcher designed after the Stasis Rifle.
The middle skin is the PRAWN Armor (Pressure Reactive Armored Waterproof Nano), which takes after the PRAWN Suit. The Doom Blade returns as the stolen mandible of some deep-sea beast, and the grenade launcher is replaced by a torpedo launcher.
And the right skin is the Architect Armor, which is inspired by the Architects' technology and art style. And you probably don't want to get stabbed by that Ion Blade, unless you want to pick up your atoms from 17 different star systems.
