USS Langley AV-3 (艤装なし)
USS Langley, the senior who have undergone many reforms in her 30 years of diligent work. Although she used to be a collier, she kept her white umbrella very clean. She is a respectable big sister who has always been gentle and diligent. She carries her umbrella all the time--her nickname's the Covered Wagon.
As the Navy’s first aircraft carrier, she conducted many pioneering experiments, trained the first pilots on the ship, and participated in many fleet problem exercises. When she became a seaplane tender in 1936, the pilots she trained had continued their service on Saratoga and Lexington. She was sunk by Enterprise in Fleet Problem XX, but Enterprise herself was also sunk by Ranger--this had driven Enty mad.
She used to raise a litter of pigeons to contact the pilots. These pigeons were pretty well-behaved at first, but they seemed to like Norfolk Shipyard so much that they never went back to the ship.
After the war began, she joined the ABDA fleet. In February, she was dispatched alone to transport a plane, and was sunk by JNA on the way. Edsall, who rescued her crew, despite her efforts to maneuver against the fire of the IJN battleship fleet, was sunk with all hands. Because there was no one to rescue her, the crew stayed in the sea forever.
