When I heard that people in Ancient China used to believe that the souls of dead tigers turned into amber, I figured that Nazrin could probably still find Shou if she died. It was a great concept to me, and I wanted to make it into a story sometime. But when I tried drawing it, Nazrin's love just became too heavy. I mean, I knew... Obviously I knew how she cares about Shou, but what I wanted to be a romantic story ended up feeling like something totally different.
There was probably a time when Shou was starting to disappear, and felt a fear of death not too different from Hijiri's. Nazrin on the other hand gives me the feeling that she's never really thought about her own death. Even if she could die from external causes, there's no worry about a "lifespan", so to speak.
Comparing someone's eyes to gems felt a bit cliché, but once I tried it, I ended up liking it.
Thank you very much for reading this far. And while we're here, thanks to the Ancient Chinese as well.
