Type Collab: Meowstic F
My contribution for GottaDrawEmAll's Psychic type collab!
After rolling Grumpig for this collab I decided to reroll in hopes of getting something less straightforward because I love design challenges. I was very happy to get Meowstic - and the female one nontheless, I find it much cooler than the male one - because it's not as straightforward as it may seem. At least not to me. I actually streamed the sketching and designing process for this design a while ago, so if you happened to watch it you got to hear all my thoughts and ideas.
So, what mostly irks me about Meowstic is that it is very much based on a cat yet it doesn't behave like one. It has very strong feline characteristics and inspirations as well, but the way it moves and the way it is shaped isn't a conventional cat. It's (predominantly) bipedal and its movement as well as its form are those of a (predominantly) bipedal creature. I chose to base mine on lemurs, mostly ring-tailed lemur, since despite being primates they actually have a very feline feel to them. I also aimed to strengthen that feline feel. In addition to that and to strengthen the weirdness and the creepy-ish nature of psychic type Pokemon I gave it large bat-like ears that have those glowy eye-like patterns.
I'm pretty happy with the design and I think I reached my goals with it quite well, too. The process was also fun and I think I learned a thing or two about values here.
I hope you like it!
