Slip Away
To me Studio Ghibli's movies are some of the most inspiring things of all time, and every once in a while I get a sudden urge to draw some fanart. I have drawn Haku a couple of times, some of my long-time watchers may remember. Haku is such a beautiful character and one of my favourite things about him is the fluidity of his motion in the movie. This particular piece was inspired by the scene in which Haku tries to escape the hexed paper slips.
I've had this piece thumbnailed in my sketchbook for months so I was so glad I finally got to paint it. I used Daniel Smith tube watercolours, something that I have never tried before. I really like them and I think I got a pretty good hang of using them, too. I'm definitely going to do more paintings with them in the future!
I hope you like it!
