I will not work for anyone. Frankly, it is not possible for me to work for anyone in my life.
Zhou Liqi was a repeat offender of electro-scooter battery theft in Guangxi, and the referenced event was his second arrest on 2012. When interviewed, he claimed that he will never work for anyone in his life, and he doesn't know how to do business, either. Therefore, he was "forced" to commit theft in order to maintain his life. He also claims that he loves prison, because "inmates always talk smart, and it feels a lot better than home." His "explanation" of crime committing amused many Chinese netizens, and they started to jokingly call him Thief Guevara for his slightly similar facial feature with Che Guevara.
Zhou didn't keep his promise, as he was spotted several times working on part-time jobs later. Witness reports include waiter, traffic warden, and presumably more. However these didn't last long as he soon returned to his old self, and was caught again and trialled in 2016.
On Apr.18 2020, after serving his 4.5 years sentence, Zhou found himself being put under the spotlight once again. Several talent scouting companies learnt his release, and tried to contract him as an internet celebrity for his memetic status online. Yet this time, Zhou refused all their offers by stating that becoming an internet celebrity still count as "working for someone," and he is going to keep his promise of "never work for anyone." He also said he is going to become a farmer, and spend more time with his parents from now on.
