Afterword
Thank you to everyone who has picked up this book. My name is Kara'agetarou.
At first, I'd planned for this to be a story about Nitori pursuing speed, but as I was making it, Aya ended up getting more and more stage time. Miss Shameimaru normally gives the impression of flitting about, aloof and neutral, but I wondered what she'd do if cornered.
Self-destruct buttons are the grand dream.
My impetus for this was around this fall, when I just happened to see them doing a news spot on a linear bullet train, and I remembered that, come to think of it, they'd developed one ages ago.
The red thing that shows up in this comic is a prototype linear motor car called the Maglev ML500. In 1979, it reached an unmanned top speed of 517 km/h. Today it is on display at the Modern Transportation Museum in Osaka, but I hear the museum will be closing in 2014, so I have a hunch it will be entering Gensokyo.
