Upload Feedback Thread - post here if your uploads keep getting deleted

Posted under General

I assume I've misunderstood what it means by "only upload if you have a higher quality copy".

post #8460309 is a higher file size png version of its jpg counterpart but I assume because there isn't any obvious artifacting on the original upload that the dupe upload wasn't needed? Sorry if it's an obvious answer but I did browse a few forum posts about it and found conflicting or confusing answers.

I recently had a huuuuuuuuge number of posts deleted, and I dropped my upload limit from 17 to a whopping 9

Of the 60 images I uploaded in roughly a week in a half, 28 were deleted, 13 from the same artist with 180 already approved images that are not of any better or worse quality persay, which is a staggering amount compared to my usual throughput.

Just to name a few, because imo a lot of them weren't really deletion worthy imo?

I'd look at koikatsu_(medium) status:active for a quality comparison. My advice would be to probably avoid uploading it tbh as standards for 3d (especially Koikatsu/MMD) are much higher.

Keep in mind the majority of those were uploaded by unrestricted users who can bypass the modqueue, only a few were actually approved so focus on these.

Your upload already got approved at time of responding, but no, there doesn't need to be any obvious artifacting on the original upload for the higher quality copy to be accepted.

https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/8113570 (same as the above, but is a nuder? variant of the parent)

Honestly, parent of post #8212450 has already questionable anatomy, but it still overall looks better and more polished than this post; i'd guess it's a quality issue, not that there would be absolutely zero approvers willing to accept it as good enough

post #8113570 is tagged as a third-party edit, which are against the rules

The ones by Noeomi you uploaded are pieces from 10 years ago when the artist was very noticeably less skilled, so saying there isn't any significant quality difference is a stretch. Albeit some of those from that same time were also approved but danbooru's quality standards 10 years ago were much lower than today. A significant number of the active images from this artist weren't approved but bypassed the queue (especially the older ones), and the ones that got approved for the vast majority are more polished with better coloring and are less extreme in anatomy issues (they're still noticeable to me though).
I understand wanting to see more of a character you like on danbooru, but raising your standards isn't a bad idea
post #8460852 shows another artist who was still a beginner in digital painting at the time of drawing this, so there are a lot of ways in which this doesn't meet quality standards on danbooru, even if i understand the charm.
For post #post #8431133 , i guess it's the shoulders?

So what would you propose I do then? Only upload my Koi work in like a year for now and hope it's in a much better state quality wise to qualify for the site?

That's not a good query to search because some of those are uploaded by users who don't require approvals. koikatsu_(medium) approver:any is what you want.

Unless you're fine with your upload limit shrinking to 5 until you reach that point, then pretty much yes. Or if you aren't fine with either of those two options, but still really want to upload on a booru, there's still gelbooru

Given the absolute state of some of Noeomi's anatomy, it really seems like less an issue of quality, and moreso an issue of "wrong character." Almost every Pyra/Mythra that artist has done has gone through barring I think 8, which is just... frustrating given that I had so many deleted.

After 2+ years of trying to upload stuff here, I still cannot get a handle on the approval system, despite multiple attempts to upload solely "quality" stuff, or just stuff that I know is gonna be popular (and whilst this is usually the best bet, it unironically just feels like luck of the draw, and this latest mass deletion has really killed my motivation to upload stuff.) And the whole "raise your standards" thing is an unnecessary quip, when a character you like has very little art compared to some mainstream ones, finding any largely untouched source is something nice.

Except i really think it is an issue of quality as the main factor by far. I think stuff like post #5852202, post #5598735 or post #5893294 (and those are works from 2 years ago) fares much better in quality than post #8454802, post #8467379 or post #8467397. And this makes sense because again, what you uploaded is 10 y.o work from this artist, so you'd expect them to get at least noticeably better with that much time and improve their work in a way that gets it a better probability to get approved here, even if it still has noticeable issues.
Of course there *may* be character bias here and there because the approval system is also subjective by design, but that's assuming every approver behind every active post of mythra or Pyra from this artist is a Pyra/Mythra fan to the point of overlooking quality; an unreasonable assumption if you ask me. Meanwhile the quality difference between what you uploaded and the other most recent approved uploads of this artist's work is just incredibly hard to miss
