Qualify Chobits' Chii

BUR #28679 has been rejected.

create alias chii -> chii_(chobits)
remove alias chii -> chii_(chobits)
deprecate chii

Short and ambiguous name.

What good would this change do, other than take another step on the way toward every tag having at least one qualifier? Can you name one credible misinterpretation of the current tag? How often has it actually been incorrectly applied?

While I generally agree with qualifying short tags like this, I believe Chii is old and recognized enough to get away with being unqualified, especially considering qualifying an even more ambiguous name like Chen was rejected.

I'd never heard of either of these characters before in my life until they'd been brought up on the forum. Realistically, Chen would be qualified in seconds if the hottest new anime had a waifu wth the same name.

I agree with Zapdos. Without wanting to derail the thread, Chen should definitely have been given a qualifier by now, and I don't think it should be used as a precedent for this situation given the related BUR was rejected via timeout. See topic #22733

I can't think of a single other character named Chii and she is incredibly popular. Though her name used to be localized as Chi which is much more ambiguous as far as I know there aren't any other characters with the double I.

Several artists and two characters with over a hundred posts each.

Based on the tag history the Chii tag has only been mistagged 7 times since 2007, this is excluding the cases where Chii's twin, Freya, was mistaken for her. The yearly breakdown is:

2024: 1 (mistagged, meant to use chibi)
2016: 1 (mistagged, meant to use chibi)
2009: 1 (mistagged, meant to use Chi (character))
2008: 2 (1x misidentified character, 1x uploaded wrong image and had tags for expected image of Chii)
2007: 2 (2x misidentified character)

And can you give the stats on how many times Chii has accidentally been searched for in lieu of a different Chii?

If you offer the means to generate the data, sure.

What I can tell you is that in the last week, before the opening of this topic, this character got a grand total of 2 searches, and they were from a bot.

The bulk update request #28679 (forum #293478) has been rejected by @nonamethanks.

No point in trying to find a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.
