Lamp implications

Posted under Tags

BUR #26458 has been rejected.

create implication kerosene_lamp -> lamp
create implication fluorescent_lamp -> lamp
create implication lava_lamp -> lamp

Different types of lamp.
I cannot include desk lamp, floor lamp, lampshade and lamppost because the lamp contained inside them might be invisible to the viewer.
As for neon lights, decided not to include it because its main purpose is for signage or decoration instead of primary light source.

Should this include lantern as well?

Removed light bulb because sometimes its depiction might be symbolic, even without the speech/thought bubble surrounding it (i.e. post #7590850).

The entire fluorescent lamp tag appears to just be images of fluorescent ceiling lights, so calling them lamps is extremely questionable both for implication purposes and the naming of the tag. In common usage we wouldn't call those "lamps" but something like a "light fixture." The lamp itself defines itself as being something used on the floor or tabletop.

The oil lamp tag has a large number of genie lamp images. They are oil lamps, but I wonder if these shouldn't be pulled out into their own tag, especially since they're not being used as an actual lamp and doesn't look that dissimilar to other objects such as a gravy boat (post #2642897).

Perhaps the tag lamp should be better used only for obviously electric ones.

That's not the difference. Lanterns refers to ones that can be and are meant to be hung or handheld. While lamp refers to ones that stands on their own on the floor or a table etc., with some sort of support body. Lamp can be used as an umbrella term, but for tagging purposes they should be mutually exclusive.
