Alright, so I made a WeChat account, and Lofter made me scan QR codes. But when I went to do that, the resulting link wouldn't work. What should I do?

Is WeChat safe to use if it's only used to make a Lofter account? Asking because I see a lot of controversy on WeChat's privacy policy (or lack of).
I've heard that most of the problems with WeChat's TOS and Privacy Policy are only in the Chinese version of of the app and not the international version, but frankly I don't care if the Chinese government knows what anime boy art I look up.
You can try sandboxing it for more security though?

As someone not on the Discord server (and am going to assume plenty others who are browsing this thread aren't either), may I ask how to make an account for WeChat? Could be my exhaustion talking, but the few articles I've seen talking about it mention it's notably complicated (as expected in my failed attempts to sign up for Weibo to get around the Lofter block). But if WeChat works, I'll take anything at this point.
Yeah that's exactly why I mentioned it here too :DunkekStare:
These are most likely outdated. It was much more simple when I tried it out these days.
I hope it works for you!

I joined everything I wanted to with no issue from such thing, and I never joined the Discord server. I used my phone to scan qr codes on my computer too, so maybe try that and see if it works?
So you're saying you registered on your PC and scan your own verification QR with your phone or what's the deal? I've just retried registering on my phone and then scane the QR with a scanner app, the link brought me to the "confirm it's a friend helping you verify" but it either immediately change to a yellow exclamation with chinese text or if I press "Continue" fast enough it still brings me to the same yellow exclamation except this time in English "sending information error, try again later".

I downloaded the WeChat app onto my phone and then scanned the QR code in app, I should clarify. I don't know if you're doing the same thing, but if you are...Well, I just don't know. Never happened to me. Strange.

If you change your phone's app store region and download the Lofter app (or an older version if necessary) you can use it with a guest account. That's how I access it.
>Change app store region
That could only work on Apple, yes?
Also, if you're using Apple, you can just use Apple ID to make an account.
