This BUR has been living rent free in my head for 2 years now.

A lot of people call any sort of facial hair on the chin, cheeks (and some even mustaches) a beard. That has been a cause of a lot of mistags because the 2 times this was discussed on the forums most people wanted the beard tag to mean a full beard.

I thought about just making a new full beard tag, and implying beard to that and goatee like NNT suggested but that would just leave the original beard tag with the same problems and would make it broad enough to be considered padding when facial hair already exists.

Summary
  • "Renaming" the beard tag into full beard is the ideal solution for us to prevent mistags and make the tag name much clearer.
  • Aliasing beard to facial hair because both are broad enough terms to be the same thing.

This is the second step as mentioned above.

This was not an easy subject to tackle. Facial hair styles is a huge topic and I'm not too familiar with the very specific names out there but I hope this steers us in the right direction for the basics at least.

create implication full_beard -> beard
create implication thick_beard -> beard
create implication tied_beard -> beard

An alternative idea in which we keep beard as a parent tag.
Proposing this because the first idea would leave you unable to easily search for characters with only mustaches and no beards at all. Meaning the beard tag has reason to exist.

I quickly populated both full beard and thick beard because those would be 2 new tags we'd have to make if we go this direction.
