Why do we even have all these tags for Umamusume events? That's not something we do for any other game, anime, or whatever else. They're all just glorified collection tags for the outfits released as part of the event, which again, isn't something we do for any other copyright.

Technically, there is one other franchise we did this for before Umamusume... I forget which one though. Was it either Idolmaster or Love Live? Regardless, their format was followed because of Umamusume's idol-y elements. And then from there, because Umamusume is the new hotness, its event tags seem to have directly influenced the creation of event tags for Ensemble Stars and Project Sekai.

Because they predate costume tagging and nobody has bothered to get them nuked yet.

I'm not sure that's true, actually. The oldest of the Umamusume story event tags seem to have been created in 2021, and costume tagging as an established policy dates back to at least 2019. It might predate Umamusume costume tagging, by only a year (the oldest costume tag was created in 2022), but there was absolutely nothing stopping anyone from making the tags.

If anyone cares, they're welcome to turn them into individual costume tags.

The individual tags already exist, and I doubt the Umamusume taggers have missed any.

Project sekai event tags were suggested before knowing umamusume has them, their creation was a different story. And sekai has unnamed event costumes and event story fanart is fairly common, so they're not very comparable. Or maybe Umamusume has these too, then someone can be in defence of its event tags. I assumed sekai infuenced ensemble stars for the two are closer in genre and format and fanbase, but maybe it's umamusume, it was done without discussion afaik so idk.

Well, direct influence can be both explicit and implicit, and in this case I meant implicit. By the time Project Sekai got its event tags starting from September 2022, Umamusume had already gotten 15 event tags. Before you created the first event tag in the form of close game/OFFLINE on the 23rd, Umamusume and Idolmaster were both brought up on the 20th (forum #221856). Even if the idea of event tags were suggested before knowledge of either of those two having them was known to the thread, the fact those two did have them gave the idea of creating event tags precedent - and it helps that both were properties with some connection to music due to their idol elements.

So, Idolmaster -> Umamusume -> Project Sekai -> Ensemble Stars!, in terms of the spread of event tags.

The aspect of precedent is likely why sadodere, the user who created the Project Sekai thread that led to the event tags, eventually decided to take it upon themselves to spread event tags to Ensemble Stars, starting back in June, with no discussion needed.

There were mentions of them in the thread, but none of the users who participated in the thread knew enough about the other event tags and none of the umamusume taggers saw the thread (and I was questioning why they have both event tags and costume tags). All I wanted to say is that the it's not the same group of people that worked on the event tags and when project sekai event tags were created little was known about how the others function, so project sekai developed its tagging habits from scratch alone, few of umamusume/idolmas were pass down. So if we're to talk about them, maybe it's a good opportunity to give this system a look, since it doesn't have standard policy and might bother our costume system. I'm curious why these copyrights have it and if whatever evoked sekai's event tags is true to them too.
