Is there no better tag name? Kemonomimi Mode kinda skirts the line, but i feel enmaided is a bad tag name, for it is unintuitive and you will never know about it unless you accidentally run into it.
For reference, the tag seems to have been maid in topic #3912.
Reese said: Nobody aside from ่ๆ and the viewers of this particular thread are going to know to search for enmaided. It's a made-up word. Maid outfit on the otherhand is a straightforward tag.
Plus, the tag implicating maid makes it unable to be used alongside wa maid (also discussed in the original post and forum #124079.
Part 1 of the proposal above. Please approve it after forum #196559. It will have three steps - 1) alias maid -> french_maid 2) unalias maid -> french_maid (+ removal of all implications) 3) imply french_maid -> maid, wa_maid -> maid (+ addition of all implications removed from current maid)
Aside from this topic getting sidetracked in two posts, I agree that enmaided is unintuitive. I didn't even know about it until like three weeks ago. Would maid_mode be better? That would also show in autocomplete for maid.

I think there's no need, it's a bit of a meta tag. It goes against the "tag what you see, not what you know" like kemonomimi mode does.
For reference, enmaided came out of topic #3912. I don't see the point in this tag either. Its usefulness was questioned even at the time of its creation.
When we use tags like maid, idol, nurse etc we're tagging what they look like, not what their job is. It makes no sense to me to have a special version just for maid but not do the same for all other popular profession tags.
Enmaided isn't even a real world, all google hits are for boorus. It's something we made up to have this stupid distinction between fake and "real" (read: untagged as enmaided) maids.
I see it like Shinjidude said it in another topic: The tag itself isn't hurting anyone. I like the idea of the tag and don't see how it's not usefull, given such searches re:zero_kara_hajimeru_isekai_seikatsu enmaided where the maid tag is flooded with canon maids in the series.
There is no way I'm going to agree with a nuke. I don't mind a rename, if the name is really that bad for others (I never felt so), but "nuking" seems so stupid to me.
Also, enmaided implies maid, so a search with just maid is already polluted, and excluding enmaided from it takes three tags with a character search, which is already beyond member users.
Someone searching for maids can just use maid, someone searching for a character with a maid costume can search for character name + maid. The enmaided tag is useless.
Maybe I didn't explain myself good enough. The problem is, that if you have a series with a canon maid, especially Rem and Ram, you will be greeted with them, if you search for the character you want in a maid outfit. If I want to see Emilia in a maid outfit (and I really do), I can just search for Emilia_(re:zero) enmaided and be happy. Otherwise I have to use a tag combination just to exclude others.

Nuking the enmaided tag just makes it more work to search for specific images you want and is excluding Member level users of the possibility of finding what they want in a quick manner. (Not including, that they maybe don't even know the tag and still use the harder variant) Especially, because the "alternate costume + maid" search only works for them like that. They won't be able to search for anything else here, so also no characters.
Show
Emilia + maid: 159 results Emilia + enmaided: 21 results (I guess there are missing results of images not being tagged as enmaided) Emilia + maid + alternate_costume: 25 results (Member levels not being able to search for this)
I think Guaro has got a point there, but it still is a sort of "reverse canon" tag, so i'm kinda neutral about it. I still think if it has to be kept, it should be at least renamaid.
I don't know how appropriate it is to rename maid to french_maid, given even the wiki acknowledges that it can be used for the "classic French or English maid uniform". Just straight-up calling it western maid would solve that (allowing victorian maid to become a sub-tag of it), fitting in line with how we distinguish western dragons from eastern dragons.
On enmaided, the only way it can be preserved is if its scope is massively reduced, as it does basically overlap with how maid is intended to be used as it stands. Making it a niche tag that serves the purpose of distinguishing non-maids from maids within copyrights that have canon/named maids would work, but it does have problems of usage. It's worth giving a shot (though nuking it and tag gardening it all over is absolutely necessary), but giving it that shot may just delay its inevitable demise.

Reason why I downvoted first BUR, as I don't agree with the name.
Making western maid and having maid catch all is fine with me (having wa maid imply maid without the Western tag added is not, for reasons I've gone through in the thread linked in the first post). There are quite a lot of non-Western, non-"Wa" maids around already with Chinese themed ones like post #4537750, post #4295313, post #3831182, and under the current wiki definitions they don't really fit. On a side note, I do think "chinese maid" should have its own tag since chinese_clothes maid is quite insufficient to find them.

Having maid become the catch all would likely logically remove the current stipulation it has about referring to western-style maid uniforms, so having wa maid imply it would at that point make sense.
And yeah, chinese maid sounds like a fine tag idea!
