Consistency with Consort Yu. As far as I know she's called Consort Yu in the game, so I can't see a reason to call her Yu Miaoyi.

I think her official summon announcement in the FGO game news and her in-game card are the best sources here.

The tag was named back in 2018 after a Wikipedia page, Consort Yu. And it's for the historical figure, not the FGO character.
Okay, this situation is more complex than I initially thought.
虞美人 is read Yu Meiren in modern Chinese (which is what one FGO fan website, Cirnopedia, lists her Servant name as.) "Yu Miaoyi" is the romanization of 虞妙弋 which appears to be the historical figure's personal name, but for some reason, it is not listed on the English Wikipedia... or on many websites period. It's on the French Wikipedia instead, but is so rarely used I hesitate to trust it. It actually has no google results along with that romanization except Wikipedia mirrors.
I also don't know where the Miaoyi name came from in the context of FGO, since it's not the one used on her card. I admit I have not read the Chinese lostbelt where she is featured, though.
If knowing what other popular FGO websites use is a deciding factor for anyone, FGO Fandom Wikia uses Consort Yu, Cirnopedia uses Yu Meiren as I mentioned above, and grandorder.wiki and Gamepress use Yu Miaoyi.
The easiest thing to do might just be to sleep on this issue for a few months until the story chapter gets its official English translation. It should happen by the end of this year.
As one final note that may be more amusing than useful, the Chinese word 美人 apparently did refer to a rank of royal consort, despite literally meaning "beauty." Here's one mention of this on Wikipedia. Aside from Yu, the first notable figure I can find who had this rank was Xu Meiren, the mother of Prince Liu Ying about 2 centuries after Yu's time.
In other words "Consort Yu" may be a valid translation of both 虞美人 and 虞姬.

I don't know about that... I played through the Chinese Lostbelt, and she was called Yu Mei-Ren the entire time, although I've seen it written as Yu Meiren in Google searches. Is that supposed to be another reading of 虞美人? I don't know squat about Chinese, so someone help me out with this one.

Ah, i though the Gamepress wiki was updated, my bad.
FGO wiki hasn't been updated, as hasn't the Nasuverse wiki...

I find kinda ironic that the least-known romanization ended up being the official one.
I'm going to turn the alias into Yu Mei-Ren, but i'd still wait for further input.

I support using the official romanization, which is also the more popular in this case (for the historical figure.)

Yeah i meant, the least-used in the english fandom, since most big sites use either Yu Miaoyi or Consort Yu.
