Cleanup of pubic hair tags

For some time the topic and problem with the pubic hair tag has come up several times, always stating the need of a cleanup. By now we have the general pubic_hair tag and a specific male pubic hair one, which is, going by the wiki, only used for images where only a male has pubic hair, but not any girls included. The User Obstetrics made a table (thx again) to show what that means. (See below)

The need to search for female_pubic_hair has always come up in the past, even leading to the creation of pools just for that, which were deleted again. I want to bring up that discussion to talk about the options we have to deal with this need.

One option would be to create female_pubic_hair again, so that every image where only a female, but not any male, has pubic hair is searchable.
Option two is to tag any image with male_pubic_hair, where any male has pubic hair, so you can excluce it from any search, but you´ll lose images with girls.
Option three would be the status quo and option for to nuke male_pubic_hair and only use pubic_hair as a single tag, but I guess that would just create more problems.

Personally I´m between option 1 and 2, because as I understand it, people want to see female_pubic_hair, but sometimes don´t want to see male_pubic_hair, so they try to exclude it from any search, just to see that kinda all hetero images with pubic_hair are still with male_pubic_hair.

Option 1 can't distinguish between a hairy and hairless male when the female is hairy. Option 2 can't distinguish between a hairy and hairless female when the male is hairy. You lose something either way.

The wiki's approach is better for female searching, hence it being that way. However, the only foolproof way is to have pubic hair tags for both genders.

male_pubic_hair means exclusively male
Hairy FemaleHairless Female
Hairy Malepubic_hairmale_pubic_hair
Hairless Malepubic_hair-pubic_hair
male_pubic_hair means any case of it
Hairy FemaleHairless Female
Hairy Malemale_pubic_hairmale_pubic_hair
Hairless Malepubic_hair -male_pubic_hair-pubic_hair

I am for the female_pubic_hair option, and the stance mentioned by evazion. Tag both female and male whenever they show up, and don't make useless presence clauses that nobody will bother to read or follow.
Those only interested in one gender's public hair can search for it while excluding the other, and those who don't care can use the umbrella tag.

Having only the male variant like the status quo dictates simply means the tag half the time won't be used, rendering any distinction useless, and likewise forcing the tags to only be used when they appear without the other gender's variant is a lost cause.

+1

I didn't even realize male pubic hair was only applicable when only males present had pubic hair until this thread. I assumed, reasonably, that it was simply for any presence of male pubic hair like any other tag, and hadn't ever thought to check the wiki because why would it be defined any other way?

I'll give my endorsement to creating female_pubic_hair. The limitations created by not having this tag have been known for quite a long time (see forum #55027) and I've previously noted the problem myself (forum #157054). The only arguments I've seen against this tag have always amounted to "too bad, pubic hair is pubic hair" which isn't a reason so much as it is a summary dismissal of the idea that users might want to distinguish between pubic hair on men and women. Obviously someone is interested in searching for women with pubic hair, as pool #15808 wouldn't have been created otherwise.

I gave it a shot earlier, tagging everything in pool #15808 with female_pubic_hair, and what's next...

@Travley_ZeroFaithedHypocrite You were told today to not just act on your own. Wait until more people have time to react or a conclusion is reached.

I´m more and more in favor of a female_pubic_hair tag. The question then would still be, how to handle it. Tag everything with female_pubic_hair where it´s visible, even when male_pubic_hair is, or exclusively. I would go for every image, because it´s always weird to have a tag for something special, which shouldn´t be used for that special thing, like male_pubic_hair right now.

It should be for every post featuring female pubic hair. That way, people will also be able to search for posts exclusively featuring female pubic hair with the search female_pubic_hair -male_pubic_hair. The reverse would also be true if people wanted to look for posts exclusively featuring male pubic hair.

In this case, the male pubic hair wiki need to be updated, where just the exclusively part is deleted. From:

Images where depicted pubic hair is exclusively applied to male characters. (Similar to the male focus tag.)

Images where depicted pubic hair is exclusively applied to male characters. (Similar to the male focus tag.)

I don´t think the brackets are needed anymore, if the exclusively part is gone.
Then we need to create the female pubic hair tag, with kinda the same wiki, and imply it to pubic hair, so everything is searchable again.

I'm in agreement and think the female_pubic_hair tag should be made, but regarding the name... I'm one of the few consistent uploaders of posts under the male_pubic_hair tag but I never knew the tag existed until it was too late. I was only using the normal pubic_hair tag for a long time. It might have been negligence on my part, but I think it wouldn't hurt to make it easier to find.

So I would suggest that the tags be renamed so they show up when someone types in pubic_hair generally. Something like pubic_hair_(male) and pubic_hair_(female) would be my suggestion.

I think it looks kinda ugly to have an qualifier at the end of those tags. But on the other hand I understand the bigger problem, that male pubic hair doesn´t show in the autocomplete, when you type in pubic hair.
So I´m open for suggestion, if it´s a general problem for others.

On general I guess, that we´re by now all fine with the femal pubic hair tag? Noone was oppossing that idea.

BUR #3472 has been approved by @evazion.

create implication female_pubic_hair -> pubic_hair
create alias pubic_hair_(male) -> male_pubic_hair
create alias pubic_hair_(female) -> female_pubic_hair

1. As there were no objection against the tag, it should be implicated to pubic hair as agreed by the participants

2. Typing Pubic_hair in the tag field won´t show the sex-specific pubic hair tags in the autocomplete. As NNT mentioned, a alias should be helpful in this case.

Feel free to start populating female pubic hair.

Originally, pubic hair was mainly for female characters. Then people started flooding it with male pubic hair, so a male pubic hair tag was created. Then we implied male pubic hair to pubic hair, because logically it's a type of pubic hair. This is where we went wrong. It's like if we implied male shirtless to female topless. Yeah, technically they might be the same thing, but the gender difference matters. People searching for one usually don't want the other. So I think the pubic hair tag itself isn't very useful, most people aren't going to want to search for both male pubic hair and female pubic hair at the same time. Ideally if we could get everything tagged as male or female pubic hair, we could eliminate the pubic hair tag.

BUR #3497 has been approved by @evazion.

mass update pubic_hair 1girl solo -1boy -multiple_boys -male_pubic_hair -penis -> female_pubic_hair 1girl solo

Try to add female pubic hair to all posts with one girl and no male presence.

(The right side adds 1girl solo because a mass update is like a search and replace, it removes and replaces all the tags on the left hand side with the tags on the right hand side).

Just to make sure we're all on the same page, all characters we tag as 1girl or multiple_girls will count for female_pubic_hair, right? It seems like a common sense interpretation to me, but I've got a hunch that there will be one or two users who insist on removing this tag from futanari and newhalf characters, and it would be nice to have a consensus here now before anyone tries starting an edit war.

Yeah, female pubic hair should be tagged on images like Futanari and Newhalf IMO.

If they have female body and pubic hair it should logically apply for them, but its important to note that not every Newhalf is treated as female (Kirihara Torajyuro Tatsumune comes to mind). And if they don’t want to see futa/newhalf, just search for either "female_pubic_hair -futanari -newhalf", or "female_pubic_hair -penis".
