The 'fakeshot' tag had about 10+ posts removed from it and it is a pain having to check my tag history to restore them one-by-one and I know I have missed a few. Is there some sort of tag history where I can see all posts that have ever had the tag 'fakeshot' even if it has been removed?
This doesn't answer your question, but I had never heard of this tag. Did you coin it? Might I suggest something a bit more descriptive, like fake_screenshot? I was actually looking for a similar tag a while back and couldn't find one.
Check your profile and click your tag edit number, it'll list out all the tag edits you've done in the past as well as show those that have been changed since you had added them. You haven't done a lot of tag changes yet for it to be a huge hassle to search through it. Additionally It looks like all the images where the tag was removed were removed by only the user Bansho.
I agree with Shinjidude, perhaps you should consider using fake_screenshot instead and maybe alias fakeshot -> fake_screenshot. Fake_cap or something similar might also be good.
It wasn't me who started the fakeshot tag, just saw it in use and decided to stick with it.
I avoid tagging most images to prevent my history from filling up with so much to the point where it becomes impossible to find something. I only use a few tags. For people with hundreds/thousands of tag edits, it is very time-consuming and almost impossible to find just one post without some sort of search function.
One solution I found to be effective against this a situation like this is to add the images to my favorites, but then that just makes it sort of like a folder to store images belonging to certain tags rather than my actual favorites...
As for the tag, while fakeshot might not be descriptive enough, it is not actually ambiguous. The only other meaning that I can think of would be to fake the shooting of a weapon or something? Maybe someone can alias the fake_screenshot tag, I'm not sure how to do that.
memegui, amazingly, has a point. We do have a lot of arcane tags whose meanings are incomprehensible to the uninitiated, and that's part of the Danbooru 'culture', I suppose -- though cameltoe and underboob are poor examples since they're pretty widely used, I should think. At least create a wiki entry for fakeshot though, I'd say.
I understand the general point but his examples were awful and he still hasn't learned how to make a point in a reasonable manner.

It's inevitable, of course, as there isn't a commonly accepted term for everything that we can adopt. Cultural, linguistic and other differences also come into play.
Whether we change a tag or not has to be taken on a case by case basis, and some of those variables include how long we've been using the tag, how many images it's applied to, how immediately obvious the meaning is, and if there's something better.
Fakeshot has very few images, is not immediately obvious, and most of us never heard of it before relatively recently. There's also a better choice of wording in fake_screenshot.
If fakeshot had been in use for years and had 500 posts and were a known term in the online anime/game community and so on, I'd be hesitant to change it. But that's not the case, and if we can put something better in now, early on, then we might as well. Aliases exist to take care of the few people who are aware of the fakeshot tag now.
I think there are at least 200+ fakeshot images that have not been tagged. The fakeshot tag had at least 40-50 images before quite a few of them were removed for some reason. I will find them when I have the time.
Meanwhile, I'll just change the fakeshot images to the fake_screenshot tag and use fake_screenshot for future tagging.

I know it is kind of a moot point now that we agreed we're going to be using the more obvious fake_screenshot tag; but I'm going to take a stab and guess they were removed because whoever removed them thought it didn't make sense or was jibberish tag vandalism from people, without knowing what it meant... Anyways, fake_screenshot makes a whole lot more sense, so it's good that we have it sorted :)
