Loli vs. Flat chest

Most Loli pics are clearly loli's but on the ones that are kind of iffy and you are not familiar with the series they are on do you tag it loli just to play it safe or do you tag it flat_chest with the understanding that someone who knows better will correct it?

The loli tag isn't really about canon "age" anyway, so you might be going about it wrong. Age in anime is too hard to pin down sometimes, and when it is known it's often a joke and doesn't reflect how the characters look. A picture with a "600 year old" who looks six and is having sex is still a "loli" image. And an image with a "6 year old" who is fully clothed and doodling happily with crayons is not a "loli" image.

Loli is only used in sexually suggestive or sexually explicit situations. So you can tag an original character loli too, even if she *has* no age.

Flat chest is just for flat chests, whether or not the character is young or adult, whether the picture is sexually suggestive or not. As long as the fact that the chest is flat is a noteworthy facet of the image, use the tag.

It's not a matter of one or the other, usually. Generally, you should know loli when you see it.

flat chest looks older, loli looks 13-. A lot of people are doing it wrong and I'm tired of cleaning it up.

don't use flat_chest with loli or child, all lolis and children are flat.

I think flat_chest should be used with loli. I don't think they should always be mutually exclusive, rather, I'd risk saying that generally loli is a subset of flat_chest, and flat_chest should usually accompany loli.

I'm ambivalent about using flat chest with loli (don't care much), I just want people to realize that a flat chest does not automatically mean loli.

loli doesn't automatically mean flat_chest either.

Probably isn't certainly. We don't need implications that aren't 100% rock-solid.

I agree that most loli images should be tagged with flat_chest, based on jxh's previous explanation:

It just makes sense. But yeah, there are always some exceptions thinkable, so I don't think an implication is a good idea.

One thing: instead of having to explain this over and over again to new users why not just reverse the
'lolicon -> loli' alias? With "lolicon" there won't be any misunderstandings any more and I've always thought that using loli for this was kind of entrapment of new users and confusing since "loli" isn't used in this manner outside of Danbooru.

People should stop using it wrongly then.

A lot of you seem to be forgetting one basic fact: loli images are restricted on the site. I agree with Dalamar and jxh but most people visiting the site can't access the loli images they want to see so when they post new images or edit old images, they label them as flat_chest instead of loli so that they and other visitors can still see them. They could care less about labeling them properly, they just don't want to see their favorite lolicon pictures disappear off into Never-Never Land.

That's true, but I still support reversing the lolicon->loli alias. It makes alot more sense that way.

For the pictures, I think that flat_chest should pertain to only non-loli characters. It's obvious that a loli female would have a flat chest, and if a person wanted to search for that they could just search 'loli'. Searching for 'flat_chest' just means a person wants to see small/nonexistent breasts, not that they want to see little girls. Keeping them separate seems more consistent to me. Like how 2girls =/= yuri.

I still belive that the 'child' take should be more inforced, Myself I like mostly non explict 'loli' pics, I hate boobs and there is pretty much no way to get those.

This whole thread is useless. If it is a loli like character that isn't explicit? Tag it as child, or leave it alone.
Is it an explicit image with a loli like character? Tag it as loli. If that loli has a flat chest, then add the flat_chest tag. If an older woman still has a flat chest? Then tag it with flat_chest.

Would someone explain why the flat_chest tag should be used with loli? It's redundant. A female loli will usually have a flat chest, that's obvious. Searching loli+flat_chest would basically just give the searcher every loli image there is. And for the maybe 2% of loli characters that do have breasts, searching loli+breasts would make finding them easy.

One good reason, that's all I'm asking.

If someone searches flat_chest, they want to find images with flat chests.

Obviously it is not since people are posting with different opinions or unsure themselves. The rules surrounding this are vague which is why people ask questions hoping they will get a few clear answers while at the same time hoping people don't tell them that the question that many people seem to be confused on is a pointless question.
