Expanding the 'toy' Wiki

Posted under General

So I've been working on the toy wiki and its related articles, and I keep debating as to what constitutes a toy. Obviously I've included traditional toys to the list, but I have questions as to the nature of certain items. I've left the below out of the wiki for now. Any additions or debatable removals from the wiki's list would help as well.

  • boomerang: Dubious about this one because it's often portrayed as a weapon, not a toy.
  • video_game: Yes, it's designed for amusement, but it doesn't cross my mind as a toy like traditional toys do.
  • jump_rope: Same gymnastics issue as hula hoop.
  • sticker: Just not sure of this one.
  • Are there any tags for Play-Doh or similar doughy substances?

Updated

I'd leave everything from your initial post out of any definition of "toy". If you do mention them, it would be with caveats to take context into cosideration, and even then only jump_rope and hula_hoop really apply.

So the tag hasn't become a parent. Includes descriptions of other tags and is inferior to them in count.

"Parent"
toy

An object designed to provide amusement, often a replica or model of something, but can be baubles, trinkets, or electronics.

"Children"
stuffed_toy

Any type of toy that is crafted from soft textiles such as cloth...

I think it is necessary to do something with the tag itself or to indicate the conditions of use the tag (toy) without another a tag (type of a toy).

Exist toy stuffed_toy, toy doll, etc.
