Despite my earlier statment I ended up going with "cosplay of copyright's character." because it's more flexible with cases like Mickey Mouse who doesn't really sound right with "cosplay of mickey mouse from disney" and odd things like imaichi moenai ko.
Benit did a bunch with the old format, if one works better for people we can switch them all to one format fairly trivially.
As done as I'm going to get. Everything up to page 34, almost everything with at least 5 posts. Gave up on trying to decide what to do with the mess that is spider-man and some of the stuff with 5 posts shuffled around while I was working my way through it so I'm sure there were a bunch of tags I never saw. Less than 5 posts and they're too much trouble to fix and there's like a hundred and fifty pages of _(cosplay) tags with less than 5 posts.
Someone should probably do a franchise check, if it wasn't something pretty simple (dragon quest), something with the franchise in the tag (fate/zero) or I was knowledgeable about (final fantasy) I just went with the general franchise tag (pokemon, gundam, fate series) so if someone wants to go through those it would probably be a good idea. tag search for *_(pokemon)_(cosplay) or wiki body search for "cosplay of gundam's" should get you 90% of them. Fates should probably only be tied to a specific series if a character only appears in said series or has an appearance tied to that series with it's own tag.
I know for sure I worked through Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, Precure and the Fate (series), and I will be working through Final Fantasy and Tales (series) plus a bunch of minor series. I'm not too familiar with Pokemon, Gundam or other popular series.
