Various tight shiny bodysuits pool (pool #280) discussion thread

Posted under General

pool #280 keeps being brought back up over and over again in the Pointless Pools Thread (forum #12295), so this thread will hopefully allow users to discuss the pool, answer questions people have, reach some sort of conclusion, and then from this point on serve as a response to anyone who tries and brings it up again by saying "it's already been discussed in forum #74586, stop bringing it up."

Non-subjective pools: Examples are pool #1338 and pool #280. For want of a better name, these are similar to subjective pools, but without the subjectivity; they have well-defined criteria for post inclusion. There's even less of a reason to make these private than there is for subjective pools; whether a post belongs in such a pool is not a matter of opinion, so allowing any user to add to such a pool could only be a good thing.

pool #280 "Pool: tight shiny (most full) bodysuits"
Not too sure about this one, but it's just a compilation of the plugsuit, spacesuit, racing_suit, flightsuit, catsuit, and bodysuit tags.

This one we can probably keep, provided it's well maintained.

pool #280, "tight shiny (most full) bodysuits". A private pool which seems to be a favorites pool of the bodysuit tag. At the very least it should be public.

jxh2154 said it could be kept if it was maintained, though i fail to see the concept here that couldn't be tagged.

pool #280

Seeing as it's being "maintained" by a single user, it's similar to a favourites pool.

jxh has already backed it's current form, it's fine.

I'd just like some clarification on pool #280, I know it's been deemed acceptable, but why exactly is that? It looks as though every single image in that pool falls under bodysuit with no other qualifying criteria, and the ones not tagged as such are mostly simply missing the tag. (The one exception seems to be oddly placed, being that it's a picture of pantyhose, not a suit of any type)

Updated by jxh2154

The suits displayed in the pool don't even seem to have a common theme beyond being bodysuits, as was said it seems to just be a bodysuit favorites pool.

If it's acceptable for a reason, I'd like to know why so we can clear up all of this.

yes, here it is certainly a subjective selection of pictures with these tags:

"Leotard bodysuit bike_shorts BikeSuit flightsuit jumpsuit pilot_suit plugsuit racing_suit shiny_clothes skintight spandex unitard test_plugsuit wetsuit zero_suit"

some of the pictures had none of these tags, some do not fall under the "bodysuit" or "skintight" tag or some tags were now linked.
The pool will be made public? renamed? should it be cleared? I have no problem with it. a short message ... would have served over 3 years ago ...
But I think it's a nice compilation ;)
(sorry, its google english!)

Of the three pages found by searching pool:280 -bodysuit, nearly all of the results are just missing the bodysuit tag. Others do not belong with the other posts to begin with, being pantyhose (post #130938) or hardly even being able to be called a suit at all (post #1105265, according to the wiki doesn't even qualify for the tag being that the torso portion doesn't cover much).

I don't know if the other suits weren't considered bodysuits three years ago, but they have been for a while, so it doesn't seem to have a purpose anymore.

Updated

I've been a bit less active for the last few weeks due to life, but I still try to regularly clear the forums every day or so. I just tend to be more inclusionist when it comes to pools, so I leave pool deletion to people who feel otherwise.

As for why it's limited to mods, I would guess it's because there are so many more Janitors than Mods, and more diverse opinions among the janitors as to what should stay and what should go. Limiting it to mods keeps janitors from stepping on other janitors' toes. I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with opening up Janitor privileges (they were more powerful when I was one, though there were fewer), but being an incusionist as I said above, I'd appreciate it if people didn't delete things willy-nilly.

We wouldn't have trust issues if we were more selective when choosing janitors. Instead, we let anyone with a pulse in, which leads to people like rantuyetmai and DakuTree, whose actions stomp all over that trust and lead to the nerfing of moderator powers.

Regardless, there are pages of pools in the Pointless Pools thread that require attention, some of them starting to repeat themselves. If all the current mods are too busy to deal with it, then we should either open up pool deletion up to janitors again (now that pool deletions are reversible and show up on the Mod Action page), or promote a handful to mods to pick up the slack (preferably established people and not year-old greenhorns).

Unnoticed? it was cleared by an admin and then none of the five people capable of deleting pools felt it needed deletion.

I was referring to a response, not to whether it was deleted or not.

The discussion was started to answer the questions about the pool floating around and reach a conclusion on the matter, as stated by the opening paragraph, but neither of those things occurred. No response was given as to why it was deemed acceptable despite appearing to be nothing more than a pool that could be covered entirely by a single tag, and with no discerning features that could justify putting one bodysuit picture in the pool while leaving another one out. In addition, the pool was, and still is, private, and the pool creator's response in this very topic suggests it was nothing more than a compilation of nice bodysuits, making it a favorites pool.

With no response given despite these developments and the intended purpose of the thread, it can only be assumed that it's gone with no attention for these past ten months.

Updated

Deletion is limited to mods because I deleted some pool without discussion and someone got super upset about it and demanded pool deletion be limited to mods and up so albert did that ~the end~.

I know that this has been brought up so much that people are probably sick of it, but I do not see a reason why this pool shouldn't be deleted:

  • Essentially all posts in it fall under the bodysuit tag.
  • The pool's definition does not specify any more specific criteria for posts that are added other than that they must include a bodysuit. Therefore, it's not useful for the purpose of searching for a specific kind of bodysuit or for anything else.
  • The pool is maintained entirely by one user (neehl), so I believe that it is a favorites pool.
  • As an extension to the above, the search bodysuit fav:neehl returns results very similar to pool:280 (approximately 90% the same). This adds more support that this is a favorites pool.

If there is some benefit to keeping it, could someone please specify what it is? (That seems to be the original intention of this thread, but it doesn't seem to have been accomplished.)
