Why is this post irrelevant?

Case in point: post #219957 (source: http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=585827)

I was confident that post would come through (nice art, nice resolution, no artifacts, and it's anime-related), so when I saw it deleted, it surprised me; that's why I'm asking.

My guess is that posts involving certain copyrights (like Dragon Ball) are deemed irrelevant more easily than others, probably because they are despised by a large part of the community (mods being no exception).

This isn't a complaint about moderators, or anything like that. I only want to know why that post wasn't Danbooru material, to avoid posting irrelevant pics in the future.

Another related question, this time for everybody: what about those pictures whose subject is on topic (anime/manga/japanese games) but whose style isn't?

For example, they may be drawn in a realistic style (like post #29408), or in an occidentalized toonish style (like post #218187), or even something totally different (post #197887).

I love those three posts myself. Many of my favorite anime fanarts aren't drawn in anime style, and I feel compelled to upload similar stuff (as long as it's good art).

Right now, I have a batch of Bleach pics salvaged from the deserts of deviantART (like post #237739, post #235760 and post #235757) and most of them aren't really anime-styled.

But I know there are some who frown when they see that sort of content here, and I think it's interesting to hear people's say in this before spamming more stuff.

So... is stuff that is anime in subject but not in style OK?

I might approve the first (but only once in awhile as a novelty), never approve the second (toony = no), and I don't know what the fuck is going on in the third.

There's also something of an unofficial rule against deviantArt. I'd say to stay away from uploading a lot of non-anime style art, though exactly how one defines that is obviously tricky. Use common sense.

If I'm asking, it's because it's beyond my common sense.

I really don't understand the rule against deviantART, either. If we filter out the crap and the watermarked stuff, there's still a lot of good stuff left, like post #48976.

Even if only one in every thousand pictures in deviantART are Danbooru-worthy material, that's still more than fifty thousand pictures. Isn't it pointless to have that kind of prejudices against a site with that kind of potential?

***Mod note**: From jxh - sorry, hit 'edit' instead of 'quote' and saved before I realized, so your post was lost. I hit back but it wasn't still stored. I don't think I can revive it.

I don't know if Albert can restore it... but the reply I was going to make was essentially FIND A SITE THAT CARES ABOUT THAT SORT OF ART THEN! Danbooru is not the only site on the internet.

Do you also go into a van Gogh museum and rage that they need to show more contemporary artworks?

This site is for japanese artwork. No-one wants to stop anyone from appreciating different kinds of art, but there are other sites for that. Don't try to make Danbooru into something it doesn't want to be.

(Well actually, like albert said above, you're welcome to try, but do not expect to succeed or be applauded for your efforts.)

OMGGGGGG POWER ABUSE!!!!!!!!!

Nah, as I already said, this wasn't a complaint, much less a flame. The only thing that happened is that I used to think there was a place here for that kind of posts, but I don't think that anymore.

I've been actively contributing to the site for a short time, and I guess I didn't really understand what it was about --- I thought it was about anime art in the broadest sense. I didn't realize that those non-Japanese posts were meant to be exceptions from the start.

That was my mistake. Please, don't think I was trying to turn this site into something it isn't. After reading this thread and seing some of my recent posts get rejected (I'm kinda sad about post #237739, but now I see that post was the perfect example about what I can't expect to be accepted), I got the point. Thanks for the straightforward replies, everyone.

I'm not surprised that the mod decided to delete the post instead of trying to respond to it, weeaboos aren't logical people.

Fuck this place. The elistism and blind stupidity of the mods makes me sick.

Holy shit did you even read what he wrote? Try pulling that stick out of your ass. He made a mistake, get over it.
