I just got done reading the comments guideline and from what I've seen I just got a - mark for something totally ridiculous.
Situation: I just started commenting on images on Danbooru, and since the beginning of time I have always signed my name at the bottom of my PM's, comments, posts, etc. So I decided to do the same here as well. And yes I know it says who I am on each post but its like my trademark and I have always keep it consistent.
Now while I was checking out the newer images I suddenly got mail stating about how my username marking was annoying. It just seemed like a pretty pointless thing to say to me, so I asked "who are you exactly and why do you care so much?" The next message stated how I was being arrogant then 1 minute later I received a - mark. Which is also my first one. :Situation End
If I really did something wrong then I apologize but I read nowhere that I could not place something so simple in my comments.
While it's annoying having to read comments where people sign their name, giving you a negative record like that was totally uncalled for. You just started commenting, and a polite personal message on the matter should have sufficed. Only if you had continued to do so after being informed, would I think that a negative record would be warranted.
Worse yet, it also looks like you got the negative record just because someone had their panties in a bunch.
Well if its a general annoyance then I'll stop with the signature. And thank you Bapa for the quick response. Also I noticed that every image where I signed is in the comment threshold thing. Does that also have a negative effect?

If you mean that some of your comments became hidden because they got down-voted, then no. Comments down-voted enough to fall below the viewing threshold have no negative effects (besides hiding your comment, of course). Though, that doesn't mean your comments were necessarily down-voted because they were poor -- sometimes the comment voting system is just misused.
Anyway, I hope this issue gets rectified, but my advice would be to just continue being a good sport, contributing what you can (eg, uploading good content, tagging posts, participating in discussions on the forums, etc.), and just enjoy using the site.
I gave you a negative score for general annoyance. We know who you are, we know you're commenting, you do NOT need to post your username in every comment.
You were being arrogant towards me when I asked you in PM to stop. Quit crying over a negative record and get over it. Sheesh.
And yes, my panties are in a knot, Bapabooie, thank you for noticing.

Giving a neg to someone with a grand total of five comments, only three of them demonstrating the listed offense, is absolutely unwarranted. I know negs don't mean that much, but if I got one for a reason this stupid, I'd be pissed.
FYI, saying this to someone who messages you out of the blue makes you kind of a dick.
I would say the message itself might have warranted that kind of response. It all depends on how it was worded.
Sorry to bother you but there is a unwritten rule that you should not use signatures in comments. It is considered to be annoying. It would be appreciated if you could leave your signature out in future posts.
vs.
Putting your signature in post is annoying, stop it.
While it is unlikely either would get a positive response while do you think would piss someone off more?
Also add to the fact that privileged are only slightly above members in the grand scheme of things and generally unless it is "administration" griping at you, people tend to react poorly.
Looks like its been removed so is alright. Giving out negative records as a kneejerk reaction to something you don't like should be discouraged. Staff members use the records to keep track of trouble makers, not people who piss you off.

It should be and if it wasn't why would it be implemented in the first place.
Just to chime in as an admin (and the one who deleted the record):
You shouldn't have gotten a neg for that, which is why I deleted it. Actually, I deleted it like six hours ago, long before I saw this thread just now.
But anyway, yeah, you can drop the sig bit. People do react badly to that, and while there's nothing particularly problematic about it, it's not necessary either. Just extra lines to scroll past. Noise.
Thank you once again Bapa for the info on the threshold.

Not to start anything but, I would appreciate it if you just stopped attacking me. I created this forum thread to better understand the situation through the comments of individuals who have used Danbooru more than I have, and to figure out if my actions were wrong.

I said this because of a sudden response that my actions were annoying. Randomly asserting someone you have no knowledge of, IMO calls for some answers like who are you? and why does my simple action like a signature bother you?

I would have to agree with you on that one Scarlet. After reading that paragraph multiple times, I can say accurately that I most likely would have thanked unforgiven for the alert instead of asking him/her questions.
I would also like to thank everyone for taking the time to answer and debate on this subject.
