Qualify, qualify and qualify again with something like this.

But not to _(artist). We're trying to do away with those, because they don't help when disambiguating between two artists, which is where the vast majority of conflicts arise.

Moved the post to koguken_(takasakishisha).

So, once again, a reminder: when helping people out with name readings, always remember the utility of qualifiers for most one-word Japanese names/words. If you just say 'x', people are just going to use that, they won't think to qualify it. The fact that a tag is not yet in use doesn't mean it shouldn't be qualified; we took that kind of approach for a long time and that's why we have so many problems and conflicts today.

Can somebody help me figure out if http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=1135431 and http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=358545 are the same artist? They both link to the same Piapro page and the same Twitter page in their profiles, but one's name is "Yoiyoi" and the other one's name is "Rin☆".

I'm also unsure what to tag this artist as. Some of their pictures are currently tagged kayu_(artist) (which is dumb, because kayu is also an artist) and some are tagged , which is probably not a character we want to use in a tag.

A bit of a list

For this one should I drop the 、 and just use kisa? So it would be kisa(k_isa) or leave it in aka 、kisa(k_isa)? Assuming that wouldn't make danbooru explode.

In order:

hachimaru_(ediciusa) (website name)
kisa_(k_isa
sukea_(pokemonogatari) (website name)

Thank you.

Now a general question to everyone.

Assuming "name_(identifier)", has it been decided what is best for the identifier?

In the cases above it is "name_(homepage)" for the first and third and "name_(pixivlink)" for the second.

Should we always do name_(homepage) when possible and name_(pixivlink) when no homepage is present?

... or am I over thinking this?

野愛におし(東ピ39a)

におし is definitely nioshi, but the 野愛 part is throwing me off. There's three possibilities according to Jim Breen:

野愛 【のあ】 Noa (f) 【のあい】 Noai (f) 【のえ】 Noe (u) NA

I've tried a lot of looking around, but I can't seem to get a decent hiragana / katakana / romanized form of it.

Does this mean he is part of a artist circle?

If so if you could add the circle info it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the circle is ふろう☆らいと , but also lacking any definitive way of romanization. A good guess here is this is using hiragana to "cutesy" things, since the author primarily does SD characters. If you convert it to katakana, you can get "FLOW☆LIGHT" out of it, which has a nice master spark feel to it, and this artist does do a lot of Marisa illustrations.

You can pull the twitter name, tathiro, for this. Not sure about the identifier. Could use the full twitter username, or the Pixiv url, as I couldn't find a circle name or HP for this person.
